In practice, the identification is done either by the State Police or service providers, such as Centre MARTA or Shelter \u201cSafe House\u201d. After identification by the service provider, victims are entitled to receive social rehabilitation service for up to 180 days. To receive a temporary residence permit, the victim must agree to cooperate with law enforcement authorities and be involved in the criminal procedure. These services can include for instance psychosocial assistance and representation in court. The programme in Latvia is offered by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and it is free of charge.
