About

The European Forum against Human Trafficking for Forced Labour and Labour Exploitation addresses current challenges and effective initiatives to identify and combat trafficking in human beings in Europe.

The unprovoked Russian aggression against Ukraine has led to a humanitarian crisis, which in turn has increased the risk of trafficking across Europe. Some states can demonstrate models of improvement, including strengthening the capacity of institutions to identify the crime, protect victims and prosecute perpetrators. However, the current challenges are serious and need to be addressed in a European context.

Trafficking in human beings and organised crime pose a serious threat to those directly exploited by it, but also to our States and institutions. How is labour exploitation conceptualised and addressed in the European states today – what is effective and what is not? What can we learn through international dialogue? Are there examples of successful prosecution of labour exploitation in a European context?

This event will provide platforms and opportunities to answer these questions and delve deeper into different aspects of trafficking for labour exploitation, such as gender, integration of migrants, demand, supply chains and public procurement. We bring together national and international policy makers, frontline actors including labour inspectorates, police, prosecutors, judges, social services, migration agencies, advocates and coordinators, civil society and academia.
