BSRYF Election Meeting
The BSRYF Election Meeting is a core democratic process where all members – youth aged 16-29 and member organisations - can participate in electing representatives and defining strategic priorities for the forum.
This meeting ensures that youth voices remain central to BSRYF’s activities, strengthening the youth-led approach to policymaking. It is a crucial moment for shaping the future of the Committee of Youth Representatives (CYR) and its working agenda.
BSRYF Election Process – From Nomination to Implementation
Step 1: Open Call for Nominations (March)
- CBSS Secretariat announces an open call
- Application open for at least 15 days
- Sent to BSRYF members & youth networks
Step 2: Submission of Candidacies
- Individuals (16-30) apply for CYR
- Youth organisations apply for the Steering Group
- Eligibility: Baltic Sea Region nationality or organisational activity
Step 3: Election Meeting (April)
- Invitation sent at least 10 days in advance
- Candidates present themselves
- Election agenda reviewed
Step 4: Voting Process
- Who votes?
- Individuals (1 vote each)
- Youth organisations (3 votes each)
- Vote delegation form for organisations due 24h before meeting
- CBSS Secretariat ensures transparency and technical support
Step 5: Post-Election & Role Assignment
- CYR Chairperson elected first
- CYR members discuss responsibilities
- Mandate starts on July 1; Personal Working Plans due by 31 July
Step 6: Implementation & Oversight
- CYR begins projects & initiatives
- Steering Group oversees progress and provides advice
- CBSS Secretariat support and issues certificates
- Biennial assessment for improvements and annual internal survey
