BSRYF Committee of Youth Representatives and Steering Group Elections

If you are 16-29 and live or are from the BSR, you are invited to register for the elections to the top bodies of the Baltic Sea Region Youth Forum. Applications for the BSRYF Committee of Youth Representatives (CYR) and Steering Group (SG) Elections are now open.

For the second time, the Baltic Sea Region Youth Forum is going to hold elections for new Committee of Youth Representatives and Steering Group members to join the ruling bodies of the platform. We encourage all Baltic Sea Region enthusiasts to apply. This year, the elections will take place online on 22 April, from 15:00 to 17:00 CEST, so save the date already!

The Baltic Sea Region Youth Forum (BSRYF) is an international platform that provides a youth-driven setting for young people to express their opinions, promote intercultural relations, and involve future decision-makers in policymaking today. For more information, please visit the BSRYF section.

Applications are open for individuals to apply for the Committee of Youth Representatives and for organisations to apply for the Steering Group until 16 April 2024.

Applying as an individual:

All young individuals are welcome to run in the Committee of Youth Representatives (CYR) elections. CYR is a youth-led and operated legislative youth body of BSRYF. All candidates who wish to apply must be between 16 and 29 years old and reside in one of the current CBSS Member States or be a national thereof. Elected CYR members meet regularly once a month and also have divided roles within the structure. Hence, motivation, a little bit of time and plenty of passion for youth advocacy and the Baltic Sea Region are also needed. To become a member of the CYR, a young individual must register for the elections and then be elected on the BSRYF elections (22 April 2024, from 15:00). It is possible to be elected in absentia, but attending the meeting is strongly encouraged.

To submit an application as an individual, please fill in this registration form. The deadline is 16 April 2024.

We all know that the youth of today will shape tomorrow’s world. Therefore, we must ensure that our voices are heard and that our very diverse concerns are taken into account. The CYR is the perfect platform for this, where decision-makers and emerging young leaders come together to brainstorm ideas to make the Baltic Sea Region stronger for now and the future.

Marta Kielpinski, Member of CYR

Applying as an organisation:

Organisations interested in the Baltic Sea Region and youth-related topics can run for positions in the Steering Group (SG). The Steering Group serves as the executive body of BSRYF and is comprised of 2 organisations and 3 individuals (appointed by the CYR at a later date). Organisations applying must focus on youth-related topics and operate in the Baltic Sea Region, aligning with CBSS values.

To submit an application on behalf of an organisation, please fill in this registration form. The deadline is 16 April 2024.

Elections:

Elections for BSRYF Committee of Youth Representatives and Steering Group (organisations) will be held online on 22 April 2024, between 15:00 and 17:00 CEST.

The link for the voting meeting will be distributed through the BSRYF mailing list, so all individuals and groups should ensure they are registered as simple members as well. All BSRYF members have the right to vote.

Organisations eligible to vote in the BSRYF election can submit a vote delegation form by April 21, 12:00 CEST. This allows their representative to cast 3 votes on behalf of the organisation.

Info Sessions:

To answer all questions regarding the BSRYF Committee of Youth Representatives and Steering Group elections as well as general BSRYF-related inquiries, two info sessions will be held:

  • 22 March 2024, at 10:00 CET
  • 5 April 2024, at 14:00 CEST

Both info sessions will be held online and require brief registration in order to receive the links to join. Registration links will be sent on the day of each event and registration to them closes one day before the event.

I wholeheartedly encourage anyone intrigued by regional governance and international politics to dive into this enriching endeavor. Despite the initial enormity of the undertaking, the knowledge, experiences, and everything in between to be acquired are most definitely worth it. As a young participant actively engaged in shaping the discourse of your state or region, your unique perspective is not just valued—it’s essential.
