Temporary residence permits
In Lithuania, foreign victims of human trafficking can be entitled to a temporary residence permit. The reception of the permit is regulated in Article 40 of the Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners.
According to the law, a temporary residence permit may be issued or changed to an alien who is or has been a victim of trafficking in human beings or illegal employment, who:
- Cooperates with the pre-trial investigation body or the court in offences related to trafficking in human beings or to illegal employment
- Has worked in conditions of extreme labour exploitation
The temporary residence permit is valid for a maximum period of one year.
The temporary residence permit gives the victim a right to work.
