Temporary residence permits

Temporary residence permits

In Lithuania, foreign victims of human trafficking can be entitled to a temporary residence permit. The reception of the permit is regulated in Article 40 of the Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners.

According to the law, a temporary residence permit may be issued or changed to an alien who is or has been a victim of trafficking in human beings or illegal employment, who:

  1. Cooperates with the pre-trial investigation body or the court in offences related to trafficking in human beings or to illegal employment
  2. Has worked in conditions of extreme labour exploitation

The temporary residence permit is valid for a maximum period of one year.

The temporary residence permit gives the victim a right to work.
