Temporary residence permits

Temporary residence permits

Victims of human trafficking, whose presence in Denmark is required for the purpose of investigation or prosecution, can receive a temporary residence permit. The residence permit is based on the Danish Aliens Act (section 9(c), para 5).

To receive a residence permit, the individual has to submit an application to DIS or the relevant police authority. The application must include documentation proving that the individual’s presence is required for an investigation or prosecution, and that they are cooperating with the police.

Residence permits are granted for a period of six months, with a possibility of extension for additional periods of six months. The residence permit may not be renewed for a period longer than the period of investigation or prosecution.

In general, the permit does not give the foreigner a right to work.
