Remembering Jacek Starościak
It is with great sorrow that we received the sad news of the decease of the first President of the City of Gdańsk and the first Director of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) Secretariat, Mr. Jacek Starościak.
We convey our heartfelt condolences to his beloved spouse and family and join the city of Gdańsk, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and all of those who celebrate his life and legacy. His devotion in promoting democratic values and his never ending efforts to contribute in building up better societies focusing on human values and, most of all, always guided by the principle of solidarity and his ethical star in the spirit of “Nec temere Nec timide” as a son of his native Gdańsk.
We, at the CBSS Secretariat and his Baltic Sea family, will always remember Mr. Starościak, for his engagement in creating a sense of community and for leading our CBSS Secretariat in turbulent waters with a firm convinction that only by navigating together we could overcome the Baltic Sea’s challenges, achieve change and prosperity for the Baltic Sea and its peoples. He was a true champion of building collaboration and trust in our Region.
In celebrating his life and legacy, our thoughts are with him, his loved ones and all friends of Balticness.
