CBSS Committee of Senior Officials holds its third meeting under the German Presidency in Brussels
CBSS decision-makers addressed the future orientations of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) at the third meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) under the current German CBSS Presidency.
The Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) held its third meeting under the German CBSS Presidency (2022-2023) in Brussels, Belgium on 16-17 February 2023.
During the meeting, the CSO provided guidance on various topics of regional importance, including the future orientations of the CBSS in a changed geopolitical environment, the issue of underwater munitions, and youth. On the latter, the CSO endorsed the guidelines of the Baltic Sea Region Youth Forum (BSRYF), which was recently established and is due to be launched on 19 April 2023.
Representatives of the European External Action Service (EEAS) and Giland Morray, the head of macro-regional cooperation at DG REGIO, provided an update on the current state of play in cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region and Northern Europe.
Christos Economou, the Head of the Sea-basin Strategies, Maritime Regional Cooperation and Maritime Security unit at DG MARE, also gave a presentation on underwater munitions and highlighted the cooperation between the EU and the CBSS’s Expert Group of Sustainable Maritime Economy (EGSME).
