Open CBSS Expert Group on Sustainable Maritime Economy Seminar
The Baltic Sea Region Sustainable Maritime Economy Experts will meet in Åland to discuss the sustainable maritime fuels and bunkering infrastructure in the Baltic Sea.
The 2nd open CBSS Open CBSS Expert Group on Sustainable Maritime Economy (EGSME) seminar, under the CBSS Finnish Presidency, focusing on sustainable maritime fuels and the needed bunkering infrastructure in the Baltic Sea, will take place on 22 May 2024 in Mariehamn, Åland. The expert seminar is a joint event organised by the CBSS EGSME, EU Baltic Sea Region Strategy PA Ship and PA Safe, as well as HELCOM’s Green Team Working Group.
Finland holds the presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024. During its presidency, Finland aims to strengthen both the political dimension and the practical cooperation of the CBSS. The cross-cutting themes of the presidency are comprehensive security, crisis preparedness and resilience.
As part of Finland’s Presidency, the Expert Group on Sustainable Maritime Economy (EGSME) continues to chart clean transport corridors (green shipping corridors as defined in the Clydebank Declaration) and brings together actors to promote sustainable maritime transport and cruise tourism in the Baltic Sea Region.
The Representative from the Prime Minister of Finland, Minister of Finance of the Government of Åland and Minister for Foreign Affairs Government of Finland will be providing the opening remarks for the seminar.
