Join the CBSS Youth Working Groups and shape the future of the Baltic Sea Region
Are you 16–29 years old and passionate about making a difference? Join a CBSS Youth Working Group and turn your ideas into action for a stronger, safer and more resilient region. The 2026/2027 term will focus on Defence & Preparedness, Environment & Climate Change, Energy & Transport, Digital Literacy & Democracy, Youth Advocacy, Finance for Youth, and AI.

The Baltic Sea Region Youth Forum (BSRYF), in cooperation with the CBSS, is inviting young people from across the region to become part of its Youth Working Groups for the 2026/2027 term and contribute to a better Baltic Sea Region.
The Working Groups bring together motivated young people from across the CBSS Member States to explore issues shaping the region’s future, exchange ideas and perspectives, engage with experts and policymakers, and turn youth voices into concrete action.
Whether you are passionate about climate action, democracy and digitalisation, energy, security, finance, artificial intelligence or youth participation, the Working Groups offer an opportunity to learn, connect and contribute to real change in the Baltic Sea Region.
For the 2026/2027 term, young people can apply to join one of seven Working Groups focusing on:
- Artificial Intelligence
- Digital Literacy & Democracy
- Environment & Climate Change
- Finance for Youth
- Defence & Preparedness
- Energy & Transport
- Youth Advocacy
From ideas to action
BSRYF Working Groups provide a space for young people to contribute actively to regional cooperation and policymaking. Members work together on policy recommendations, research, workshops, campaigns and international projects, while gaining practical experience in leadership, project management, communication and advocacy. The Working Groups also offer an opportunity to build an international network and connect with young people who share an interest in the future of the Baltic Sea Region.
“BSRYF Working Groups are where ideas turn into action. They create space to build an international network, focus on the issues that truly matter, test ideas and connect outcomes with ongoing policy dialogues across the Baltic Sea Region and beyond. This is the entry point —and content wise the driving engine—of the Baltic Sea Region Youth Forum,” says Aline Mayr, CBSS Policy Officer for Youth.
The new Working Group term will run from September 2026 until the end of June 2027. Members are expected to actively participate in online meetings, collaborate with their peers and experts, and contribute to the work and outputs of their respective groups. The expected commitment is approximately 1–2 hours per week.
Who can apply?
Young people applying to join a BSRYF Working Group should:
- be 16–29 years old;
- be a citizen or resident of a CBSS Member State;
- be comfortable communicating in English or willing to improve their English skills;
- be ready to actively participate in meetings and collaborative projects throughout the term.
If you are curious about the Baltic Sea Region, eager to collaborate with peers from different countries and ready to turn your ideas into action, this is an opportunity to make your voice heard.
