Baltic Sea Region Hackathon

The Baltic Sea Region Hackathon (#b_hack) is an annual event aimed at fostering cross-border collaboration among young individuals in the Baltic Sea Region. It addresses pressing challenges using digital and innovative solutions.

Background

Initiated by the Land Schleswig-Holstein together with the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) and the TH Lübeck, [#b_hack ] focuses on themes like combating disinformation, democracy, and sustainability. The event brings together participants from CBSS member states, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation.

Objectives
  • Foster innovation among youth (18-30 years old) in the Baltic Sea Region.
  • Develop digital tools to address regional challenges like disinformation, environmental sustainability, and democracy.
  • Strengthen collaboration and networking across borders.
Activities
  • Workshops and hackathon sessions where teams develop IT-based solutions.
  • Themes include echo chamber analysis, AI-based media verification, environmental data visualization, and sustainable tourism.
  • Final presentations evaluated by peers and stakeholders, including ministers from the Land Schleswig-Holstein
