Join the CBSS Youth Working Groups and Contribute to a Better Region!

Are you between 16 and 29? Make a difference by joining the CBSS Youth Working Groups and contribute to a better Baltic Sea Region! Topics for 2025-2026: Environment & Climate Change, Transport & Energy, Digital Literacy & Democracy, Youth Advocacy, Culture, and AI.

All young people aged 16-29 who live in or are citizens of a Baltic Sea Region country are invited to join our Baltic Sea Region Youth Forum Working Groups and collaborate on shaping a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient region.

For the past few years, CBSS has coordinated various youth working groups that have influenced regional discussions and brought youth voices into policymaking. Now, through the Baltic Sea Region Youth Forum, and with the support of CBSS, you can join one of six exciting Working Groups:

1. Working Group on Environment & Climate Change

This group focuses on pressing environmental issues across the Baltic Sea Region—such as climate adaptation, green economy, climate justice, and misinformation. Members create impact through social media campaigns, policy papers, or event series. No prior experience is needed—just passion and motivation to elevate youth voices in environmental policymaking.

2. Working Group on Transport & Energy

Focused on sustainable mobility and energy, this group addresses green shipping, renewable energy transitions, cross-border cooperation, and innovation in transport. Members contribute to dialogue on EU strategy, participate in workshops, and help shape policy under the EUSBSR framework. Bi-weekly meetings foster consistent engagement on decarbonisation and sustainable solutions.

3. Working Group on Digital Literacy & Democracy

This group explores the intersection of technology and civic engagement—combating misinformation, shaping AI governance, and bolstering digital rights. Members build digital literacy tools, fact-checking campaigns, and youth-led policy recommendations. Through close collaboration with NGOs, experts, and institutions, participants develop skills in cybersecurity, policy, and democratic innovation.

4. Working Group on Youth Advocacy

Striving to amplify youth voices, this group focuses on accessibility, civic participation, and policy influence. Members work with local youth organisations to design campaigns, workshops, and panels while gathering priorities to present to regional decision-makers. This is a practical opportunity for motivated youth to shape awareness and policy advocacy across the region.

5. Working Group on Culture

Centered on cultural diversity and youth engagement, this group encourages intercultural dialogue and minority youth inclusion in cultural decision-making. Activities include research, youth-inclusive workshops, social media initiatives, and participation in regional cultural forums. A vibrant opportunity to bring youth perspectives into cultural policy and strengthen social resilience.

6. Working Group on Artificial Intelligence (AI)

This group empowers youth to shape a sustainable, ethical AI future in Europe. Members explore EU AI sovereignty, infrastructure, skills, regulation, and environmental impact. Through collaborative, small-group projects, they generate resources for use across other youth events and present their work at the [#b_hack] Hackathon. Technical expertise isn’t required—only motivation to drive innovation.

If you are passionate about exploring Baltic Sea Region topics, eager to learn, and can commit an average of 1–2 hours per week for online meetings and project work, this opportunity is for you.

The new Working Group term runs from September 2025 to June 2026.

Registration for the BSRYF Working Groups is open until  20 September 2025, 23:59 CEST: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/QmYJH0XMUY
