Call for hosting a CBSS Summer University 2023 is open

Whether in-person, online or in a hybrid format, the CBSS is once again ready to partner up with higher education institutions in the Baltic Sea Region and beyond.

The call is closed.

Universities and higher education institutions in the Member or Observer States* of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) are encouraged to apply for organising and hosting a CBSS Summer University in 2023. Interested and eligible parties can submit their application until 14 April 2023.

By providing a platform for building partnerships between university programmes in the region, the CBSS Summer Universities strengthen academic networks and student exchange in the Baltic Sea Region. They also  offer students additional study opportunities, and, in some cases, European Academic Credits.

Over the past years, the CBSS has supported several Summer Universities, in collaboration with partner universities in the region. Traditionally, the summer universities all have a pan-Baltic component, with either at least two universities from two BSR countries teaming up or featuring lecturers from at least three CBSS Member States.

The summer universities must also be related to at least one of the three CBSS long-term priorities

  • Regional Identity,
  • Safe and Secure Region,
  • Sustainable and Prosperous Region.

All institutions that meet the eligibility criteria for hosting a CBSS Summer University are invited to apply until 14 April 2023, using the application form available here.

* Due to the suspension of Russia and Belarus by 11 CBSS Member states, the Summer University of 2023 will not be partnering with Russian and Belarusian universities.
