The year 2021 was declared the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development at the 74th United Nations General Assembly. The Covid-19 pandemic has revealed the vulnerabilities within the culture sector. A systematic shift towards sustainable systems is needed across the various sectors. To make it happen we need a collaborative perspective and innovative solutions.

Culture is both a driver and an enabler of human and sustainable development. It stimulates the innovation and creativity which can drive inclusive and sustainable economies.

The Council of the Baltic Sea states invites the stakeholders from the Baltic Sea Region to discuss the topic and how jointly initiate the synergies and partnerships to reveal the new perspectives and opportunities for the memory institution, contributing to implementation of the UN Agenda 2030 and its SDGs. The ideas brought up during the roundtable discussion, then can be developed further during the “Museums for Sustainable Future: Localizing and Implementing the Sustainable Development Goals” conference.
