The CBSS and its partners have launched the Resilient Communities Learning Platform (RESCOM) project, a new initiative aimed at strengthening community resilience across Ukraine, Moldova, and the Baltic Sea Region.
Young leaders at the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Youth Forum and the BSPC Annual Conference in Helsingør, Denmark, put in the work to deliver bold recommendations on energy, sustainability, youth engagement, and security.
Recap of the ENPRO Activities 2023-2024
Around 50 participants from the Baltic Sea states worked on new ideas for Baltic Sea cooperation at the Baltic Sea Region Hackathon [#b_hack] from 18 to 21 July 2024 in Lübeck, Germany under the motto "Bridging Borders, Shaping the Future". The winning team impressed with "Sustay", an app prototype designed to make sustainable travel easier.
The CBSS Summer University 2024 took place from 15 to 21 July in Tallinn, bringing together students from acros the Baltic Sea Region to engage with critical questions about identity and resilience in the region.
In June 2024, the CBSS concluded the transnational project "Volunteers and Local Authorities – Baltic Sea Region Network" (VOALA), funded by the Swedish Institute.
Estonia will lead the CBSS from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025, focusing on enhancing resilience and sustainability across the region.
The CBSS foreign ministers and high-level representatives convened in Porvoo, Finland, and adopted the Porvoo Declaration, which emphasises resilience, societal security, and crisis preparedness in the Baltic Sea Region.
In Helsinki, the heads of the civil protection agencies of the CBSS countries focused on strengthening regional awareness, preparedness and resilience in the BSR.
The CBSS and its partners recently hosted a conference addressing the protection, healing, and justice for child victims of trafficking, featuring discussions on intergovernmental cooperation, child-centred procedures, and the effects of institutionalisation.
Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will host the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Porvoo on 13–14 June 2024.
