Second Barnahus Forum Opens in Tallinn to Advance Child-Centred Responses to Violence

Strengthening child-centred responses to violence remains a key priority across Europe and the Baltic Sea Region, with the Barnahus Forum providing a platform for advancing coordinated, multidisciplinary approaches.

The second Barnahus Forum officially opened on 12 June 2025 in Tallinn, Estonia, bringing together Barnahus practitioners, policymakers, and experts from across Europe and beyond.

Hosted under the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS), the forum provided an important platform for sharing tools, experiences, and best practices that support child-centred and multidisciplinary responses to violence against children.

This year’s programme covered a wide range of key topics, including child protection standards, forensic interview techniques, and the integration of mental and physical health services within the Barnahus model. Participants were also engaging in discussions on trauma screening, therapeutic interventions, evaluation and accountability, as well as strengthening child participation and communication.

By fostering exchange and collaboration, the Barnahus Forum continues to play a vital role in advancing coordinated, child-friendly approaches and improving support systems for children affected by violence across the region and beyond.
