On 8 October 2026, the Council of the Baltic Sea States will host the conference “Starting with Trust: Trauma-Informed Pathways to Resilience” in Reykjavík, organised within the framework of the CBSS Icelandic Presidency 2026–2027.

Held as a hybrid event at Reykjavik University and online, the conference will explore trauma-informed approaches to building trust and resilience among children at risk and among victims and survivors of human trafficking. The event will open with remarks from Iceland’s Minister of Justice, Þorbjörg S. Gunnlaugsdóttir.
The programme brings together leading voices in trauma-informed practice, forensic interviewing, and child protection. Sessions will address topics ranging from trauma-informed codes of conduct and labour trafficking investigations to forensic interviewing, refugee children’s recovery, and evidence-based parenting support.
The conference welcomes a wide range of stakeholders from across the Baltic Sea region and beyond; practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and international organisations – whose work supports children at risk and victims and survivors of trafficking.
