European Resources Forum 2022 

The German Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) is pleased to draw your attention to the 6th European Resources Forum - "Transformative approaches for sustainable resource use and a circular economy" which will take place on 1 December 2022.

The European Resources Forum 2022 will be held on 1 December 2022, 9:00 – 17:15 (CET), as a virtual conference. The programme of the conference will contain a wide range of innovative topics, high-level speakers and interesting conference formats including keynotes i.a. from Steffi Lemke, Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, Germany, and Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President, European Commission. Up to 700 participants including 90 speakers from over 50 countries are expected during the conference.

As part of the conference, the CBSS Expert Group on Sustainable Development (EGSD) will host a Parallel session 14: Circular economy from a regional perspective: strategies and experiences from the EGSD of the CBSS that will be chaired by Ugis Zanders, the CBSS Advisor for the Priority Area Sustainable and Prosperous Region. 

The session will take place at 14.30-15.30 (CET) and comprise four distinguished speakers:

  • Marie-Louise von Münchhausen, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), Germany, and Current Chair of the Expert Group on Sustainable Development of the CBSS.
  • Krista Kupits, Advisor, Estonian Ministry for Environment, Estonia.
  • Prof. US dr. hab. Bartłomiej H. Toszek, Senior Advisor West Pomeranian Regional Office, Poland.
  • Dr.oec., prof. Maira Lescevica, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Latvia.

The European Resources Forum was founded in 2012 as a European and international platform for discussion on the issue of sustainable resource use and focuses on the political and scientific debate on this topic. The conference addresses European decision makers and experts from the fields of policy development, industry, academia, civil society, the media and from the “young generation”. 500 participants from over 50 nations are expected, including 100 speakers.

The European Resources Forum contributes to the development and implementation of common positions for policy-making in Europe and internationally. The forum is an instrument for communication on resource issues and for setting up networks and initiating stakeholder alliances at the European and international level.
