CBSS at the 26th Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference in Hamburg

On Monday, 4 September 2017, Ms Carola Veit, President of the BSPC, opened the 26th BSPC Conference, focusing on themes of  “Democracy”, “Science” and “Sustainability”.

The CBSS Director General Ambassador Maira Mora gave a speech under the theme “Science & Research” during the event, thanking the BSPC for paying attention to science and research issues in their agenda, which serves to further bridge the transnational research and innovation dialogue between legislative and executive branches. Ambassador Mora highlighted the importance of continuous dialogue for the delivery of a joint vision that the welfare of the Baltic Sea Region is founded on solid and sustainable research and innovation potential. During the session “Cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region” Ambassador Guðmundur Árni Stefánsson,the outgoing CBSS Icelandic Presidency Chairman, referred to the Reykjavik Ministerial and pointed out that the Ministers of the Baltic Sea Region countries expressed their will to continue investing in BSR cooperation. Ambassador Hans Olsson, current CBSS Swedish Presidency Chairman of the Committee of Senior Officials, also introduced the CBSS Swedish Presidency priorities for 2017-2018 –  “ sustainability”, “ continuity”  and “ adaptability”.
