In 2021, the Children at Risk Unit in the CBSS Secretariat celebrated 20 years. During this time, the Children at Risk Unit has played an important role in supporting the Expert Group on Children at Risk in its work to promote children’s rights and child protection in the Baltic Sea Region.
The Baltic Offshore Wind Forum, held in Berlin on 9 May 2023, brought together Foreign Ministers and high-level representatives of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) Member States, as well as key stakeholders, to discuss the potential of offshore wind power for a sustainable and secure energy transition in the Baltic Sea Region.
During the Baltic Sea Region Youth Forum (BSRYF) Kick-off and Election Meeting on April 19, the newly established Committee of Youth Representatives (CYR) and Steering Group (SG) were elected. The BSRYF is a structure to enhance meaningful youth participation and will be fully operational by July 1, 2023.
On 17-18 April 2023, the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) organises a project workshop with experts from the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) to identify existing gaps and challenges in climate change adaptation in the region and to develop the project concept for a future project aimed to improve the capacity of smaller towns and municipalities in approaching climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
On 30 and 31 March 2023, the Finnish National Rescue Association (SPEK) hosted a workshop “Youth resilience and agency in today’s uncertainties” in Vantaa, Finland. Young volunteers and civil protection authorities came together to discuss opportunities, challenges, and best practices of youth involvement in civil protection in the Baltic Sea Region.
The Council of the Baltic Sea States, in partnership with the German Federal Foreign Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, and the German Energy-Agency (dena), is organising the Baltic Offshore Wind Forum, which will take place on 9 May 2023 at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, Germany.
The Baltic Sea Region (BSR) is poised to become a vibrant epicentre for culturally-driven social resilience as the BSR Cultural Pearls project officially kicks off on March 29-30, 2023 in Stockholm, Sweden.
Registrations for the CBSS Youth Ministerial 2023, set to take place in Berlin, Germany on 21-25 May 2023, is now open to young people aged 16-29 years, who will have the opportunity to make their voices heard on the event’s theme of "Safeguarding resilient societies through youth collaboration in the Baltic Sea Region".
